Snow

WE LOVE SNOW!!!  It has been so pretty this year.  I even got a few days off of work thanks to the bad roads.  Nothing better than watching the snow from inside my cozy house in front of the fireplace.
This is the day before the snow.  It was around 50 degrees!

The next day....

Pacer Game

We took Colt to his first Pacer game.  He is pretty in to basketball right now, and we thought it would be a fun experience.  And who knew, kids don't need tickets at Pacer games!  He loved walking in and seeing how big it was, and he loved all the food!  He was pretty excited about the game, for all of 5 minutes.  Then he wanted to get up and walk around.  So I spent most of the first half walking around the fieldhouse. Finally, at half time, we decided to head home.  Even though we didn't make it through the whole game, we had a blast!

Valentine's Day

No frills this Valentine's Day... we stayed home and had cupcakes and flowers.  It was a really nice time without the long wait for a table at a restaurant.  We loved spending time, just the three of us, at home!

Babysitting

Even though we live so close to Josh and Beth, we don't get to get together nearly as often as we would like.  They had some things they needed to take care of, so we go to babysit Emily.  Colt loved going to the basement and picking out some of his baby toys for Emily to play with.  They were best buds all day.  And I am pretty sure Justin liked getting a small taste of what it would be like to have a little girl.

Date Weekend

Justin and I don't take a lot of time out for ourselves.  Between my work and school and Justin's busy work schedule, we try to spend as much time with Colt as we can.  That said, we want to take some time out for ourselves, so we went to Cincinnati for the night.

We love Cincinnati.  It's a pretty short drive, and we love the suburbs, IKEA and experiencing something new.  We had a great time, just the two of us.

Grandparents Rule

We are so blessed to live close to family.  Colt loves seeing all of his grandparents and we are so thankful that he gets to spend so much time with them!  Now they may occasionally let him stay up past his bedtime, give him all kinds of candy and unintentionally throw us under the bus, but we wouldn't have it any other way.

We are so lucky God gave us this little guy

Knee Surgery

Justin finally got his knee surgery scheduled.  We knew the surgery would be short, but the recovery would be pretty long.  Depending on what the doctor saw when he got in, he was either going to take out Justin's knee cap and put a cadaver bone in, or try to repair what was still left.

The doctor actually tried to take the bone out, but it wouldn't budge, so he drilled some screws through his knee cap and in to his femur to try to solidify this piece that has broken off of his femur.  Justin came out of surgery like a champ and asked to go to Wendy's on the way home.

So I took Justin home and we started the long road to recovery.  He had to use a machine up to 12 hours a day to keep his knee moving and from getting stiff.  He couldn't walk at all or put any weight on it for a few months.  Colt wasn't too happy that he lost his buddy and Justin wasn't too happy either to be quarantined to the couch.  It was a rough few weeks all the way around while I took care of Justin and Colt and worked full time and tough for Justin to just sit there all day, but we all pulled through.  Hopefully his knee is all better now!

Snow and Sledding

We got a lot of snow this week... enough for my work to get cancelled, so we went sledding for the first time with Colt. In this house, we LOVE winter and SNOW!!

Christmas

Even though we decided to stay home on Christmas, we thought we could drive up to my dad's house for the Wooden Christmas since my cousin Scott was home just for a few days and then leaving for New Zealand.  We were glad to got to say hi to everyone and Colt got to see my dad dress up as Santa!
What a great Uncle!

Merry Christmas from our house to yours.  It was sooo nice to be able to wake up whenever we wanted, take as long as we wanted to open presents and sit around and play all day.  We heard Colt wake up at a decent hour (thank goodness) and went in to remind him it was Christmas.  He was pretty excited to go down and see the tree.

After opening presents and taking a nap, we decided to make our cake for Jesus' birthday!  We had been trying to talk to Colt a lot about how Christmas isn't about presents, but we celebrate because it is Jesus' birthday.  So we thought he might like to make him a cake.  He thought it was a great idea.  And he was very excited about the blue frosting he picked out- blue because Jesus is a boy!  Merry Christmas!
