Justin finally got his knee surgery scheduled. We knew the surgery would be short, but the recovery would be pretty long. Depending on what the doctor saw when he got in, he was either going to take out Justin's knee cap and put a cadaver bone in, or try to repair what was still left.
The doctor actually tried to take the bone out, but it wouldn't budge, so he drilled some screws through his knee cap and in to his femur to try to solidify this piece that has broken off of his femur. Justin came out of surgery like a champ and asked to go to Wendy's on the way home.
So I took Justin home and we started the long road to recovery. He had to use a machine up to 12 hours a day to keep his knee moving and from getting stiff. He couldn't walk at all or put any weight on it for a few months. Colt wasn't too happy that he lost his buddy and Justin wasn't too happy either to be quarantined to the couch. It was a rough few weeks all the way around while I took care of Justin and Colt and worked full time and tough for Justin to just sit there all day, but we all pulled through. Hopefully his knee is all better now!
