Time to catch up

Well it has been busy around here.  We have started the Christmas festivities with all the families.  We will have 9 Christmas celebrations total!  We are super busy this time of year, but we love to see all our families and spend quality time with them.  Our first Christmas was at my dad's (papaw and nana's).  We got to spend some time watching the Colts beat the Jags and celebrate my dad and Justin's birthdays.  We got to hang out with Maddie and Kaleb too!  It was so much fun to watch them open presents and see how excited they get.

We are also really excited to celebrate Christmas with Colt this year.  The other day Justin was commenting on how Colt brings a whole new meaning to everything we do.  It is so awesome to see how much he has grown and changed already.  He is smiling at both of us and trying to talk when he looks at us.  To be fair- he also smiles at the ceiling fan and the windows- but we choose to think he likes us the best! :)

We also hit a rough patch this week.  Colt got his first fever.  He screamed non-stop for 4 hours.  His fever was just a little high, so we gave him some tylenol- but it didn't seem to help.  Finally, at 1 am he fell asleep after crying for so long.  I posted a pic below of his sad pufy eyes :(

There are a few other good pics so- Enjoy!

Free at last

Thursday was a very busy day for us!  I had my 6 week check-up and Colt had an appointment with his surgeon- Dr. Bilmire.  We thought while we were at Riley, we would visit all of our friends!  We got to see all the Child Life girls and then made our way to see SANTA!  Rena and Heather- the "head honchos" in the Cheer Guild made sure Colt got to meet Santa and get his picture taken!  Then we were off to his appointment.  They were running a little late (1 1/2 hours late!)-- but... Dr. Bilmire said he looked great and said she didn't need to see him anymore!  She thought his scar was looking great and he was growing very fast!  She also said I was looking much better since the last time we saw each other.  Apparently I wasn't hiding my stress and sadness too well.  After his appointment, we went to the PICU to see all my nurses.  It was so nice to see them.  Just as we were getting ready to leave, we ran in to one of my favorite patients.  He asked if he could hold Colt- of corse!  It was so cute.  He was so happy to see us and I was so happy to see him.

Afer that we fought horrible traffic to go out for our friend Renee's birthday (it was a surprise!).  Then... Colt and I went to see Mommy Ri (my mom) in her Christmas play.  She did a great job and Colt loved listening to her sing. It was a long day, but it was so good to see so many amazing people.

One month check up

Colt went to the doctor for his one month visit on Friday.  Here are the stats
Height: 22"- 68%tile
Weight: 8 lbs. 11 oz.- 22%tile
Head: 14.7"-  25%tile

All that to say, the doctor says he is long and skinny.  He was only in the 4 %tile when he was born and he weighed 7lbs 3 oz. when we went to the Dr. 2 1/2 weeks ago- so he is gaining weight fast!  And- we are slowly moving out of newborn clothes and into 0-3 month clothes.  They are still too wide for him, but his legs are too long for newborn clothes.  He is growing up way too fast!  We have an appointment with the surgeon on Thursday, so we'll let you know what she says.

The pictures are to show how far he has come.  The first picture is when he is 5 days old- when we were getting admitted to the hospital.  He almost fits in Justin's hand!  The 2nd picture is when he is 1 month old at the Colts game- look at how long he is!  Last pic is just for fun- he is so cute!
On another note- Winston's fleas are still around.  So we cleaned the house again and gave him a bath and hopefully the fleas will be gone.  In the process of trying to take care of the fleas, we realized he isn't up to date on his shots, so he will be getting his shots this week :(  Just another week in the Strange house :)

Justin is also really close to meeting his goal for sales this year.  Just $80,000 away, so if you know someone who wants to buy a house, give him a call.  He is doing so well and we are so proud of him!  God has continued to bless us over and over.

Blessings- Justin, Whitney and Colt
