Copy-Cat

Colt is my little copy-cat.  He does EVERYTHING we do!  I was giving him a bath and would put the soap on my hands, put down the soap, rub my hands together and then rub him.  As soon as I was done, he picked up the soap, shook it on the palm of his hand, placed it gently in the water and then rubbed his hands together.  It was so cute.  I got a video, so I will post it soon!
Justin was playing with a ball in the backyard and was trying to kick me with it.  He would drop it on the ground and then kick it.  Next thing you know, Colt is dropping the ball and trying to kick it in the air.  It was so precious.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!  We were late getting back from Cara and Craig's wedding, so we didn't make it to church this year :(  But we were able to run out and get all of our presents that morning.  Nothing like waiting until the last minute.  I guess Justin is rubbing of on me.
This time last year, we were dedicating Colt at church on my first Mother's Day.  My mom once told me Mother's Day was the most important holiday to her, and now I understand.  It is such an honor and blessing to be a mom.  It is absolutely one of my favorite days.
We went to Josh and Beth's for lunch and took my mom along with us.  The boys played in the yard while we entertained Colt.  We had to leave early because Justin was leaving for Canada with my grandpa and they had to leave earlier than they thought.  So he hurried and packed and snuggled with me for 5 minutes as my Mother's Day present (I did get Dots and Sour Patch Kids too).  He said my ring from last year is my Mother's Day present for the next few years!
After I dropped Justin off, and gave my grandma her corsage, I went to tell Deliane Happy Mother's Day.  Karri, Dad, Delaine and I took Colt to see the horses across the street.  He LOVED them.  He also loved their cat, much to my dismay.  He fed the horses and wasn't afraid one bit.  He did keep saying "moo" to them though.  Happy Mother's Day!

Wedding Bells

My step-sister Cara got married this weekend!  Unfortunately, I got food poisoning, so that put a little damper on the festivities, but it was amazing nonetheless.  We were able to get up there Friday evening for dinner with Cara's friends at Cerulean's.  Her friends were hilarious!  I might try to steal a few of them.  And Kim got to babysit Colt :)  The next morning, the boys went golfing.  Peyton was trying to get Justin ready over an hour before they needed to leave.  He was so excited!
Casey, Sarah and the kids got up there on Saturday and Colt was so excited to play with Bennett and Elle. We got to go for a boat ride and cookout while Cara got ready with her friends.  Then it was wedding time!
Cara and Craig got married at Camp Crosley on Little Tippy down by the water under a willow tree.  It was absolutely beautiful.  The rain didn't even decide to show up!  Peyton gave Cara away, which was so precious!  It was a great weekend and we had so much fun!  Colt even had all the kids running in circles at the reception.  Let's just say he ate too many whoopie pies!
Beautiful morning

She got a bug stuck in her lipstick.

Colt, Peyton, Bennett and Poopah all dressed alike and we didn't even plan it!  What a cute family!

Mini Marathon

I ran in my 3rd mini, 2nd 500 festival mini this weekend!  I have been having a very difficult time with my training this time around.  I finished my first mini in record setting time for me.  Since I have had Colt, things have been much different.  I get HORRIBLE side stitches where he used to lay.  And I was so nervous because they were calling for very hot temperatures and high humidity.  But I paced myself, and I loved the race.  I started to cry several times just listening to complete strangers cheer for me.  I also bought someone else's number, so everyone kept cheering "Go Lisa!"  It took me a while to figure out they were cheering for me.  Haha.  My dad ran it this year too.  I was so proud of him.  During training, I was ready to give up on running altogether.  But after the race, I am reenergized.  It was so much fun!

Poison Control

I made my first call to poison control yesterday.  Colt is at the age where he can roam around a little more by himself, so I wasn't paying a ton of attention.  I looked over, and he was standing next to the sink making a horrible face.  Then I saw dishwasher detergent in his hands and it had fluid leaking out the bottom.  He was fine, but it was enough to give me a small heart attack.  I am sure this will be the first of many calls!

18 Month Check-Up

Colt turned 18 months last week.  I must admit, I thought our life would be much different than this when he turned 18 months.  I also never thought this day would come.
Here are the stats:
Height: 34.5- 95%
Weight: 24.9 pounds- 32%
Head: 49 cm- 82%

Here are some fun 18 month facts:
  • Colt saw Justin spit the other day and now he LOVES trying to spit
  • His hair is so curly, especially in the humidity
  • He loves pretending to talk on the phone like daddy.  And he will use anything he can find and pretend it is a phone.  Yesterday I caught him with the calculator and he would talk and then turn it over to press the buttons
  • He yells at Winston all the time (he calls him "dog")
  • He loves to wash his hands
  • Being outside is his favorite thing and he loves to say "outside"
  • He really like bubbles!
  • He is working on his jump shot
  • He does hand motions for songs when we sing
  • He is counting with us ( 3, 2, 1)
  • He talks ALL the time.  You may not understand it, but he is always saying something
  • His vocabulary has taken off since he quit sucking his thumb
  • He is great at labeling things and generalizing.  He knows a fish is a fish whether it is a goldfish cracker, a fish in the water, or a drawing of a fish
  • He gives GREAT hugs and kisses
  • He likes to say "no"  ALOT while shaking his head
  • He knows all of his body parts (he has for a while)
  • He is working on animal sounds (he has moo, roar and oink)
  • We are trying to enjoy these days.  He is very opinionated, and all boy, but he is so happy and loving.  We are just waiting for the rough teenage years to roll around.

Second Try Is A Charm

I noticed that Colt's teeth were starting to shift where he sucked his thumb.  I tried to get him to stop before, but was unsuccessful.  So, I decided to pull out the big guns and use hot sauce.  We only had a weekend to do it, which made me nervous.  I had to go on my long run on Saturday morning, so I told Justin I would tackle it when I got back.  He didn't think we should be doing it in the first place.
When I got back from my run, Justin said he had already used it twice.  He said Colt did not like it and whined and cried.  After that I only had to use it two more times, and he hasn't put it back in his mouth since!!!  He doesn't use it to go to sleep, when he is watching movies, in the car or at daycare!  I was amazed.  Justin did a great job.  Fingers crossed he doesn't go back!

Happy Anniversary

Justin and I celebrated our 3 year anniversary today.  We have been together 8 years, which is just crazy!  We have been talking for a while about what to do, but decided two weeks ago we would get tattoos.  We made the appointment and had to put a deposit down, which pretty much sealed the deal.  We ended up eating dinner at Wendy's because that is all we had time for, and then headed to Broadripple to Metamorphosis.
I went first because I was afraid I would chicken out otherwise.  It was painful, but worth it.  We are so happy with them and feel like it will be a constant reminder of what is most important.  Happy anniversary babe.  I am so glad to have found you and to grow each day with you.  It isn't always easy, but it is so worth it!  I Love You.
