so much...

A lot has been happening and I keep forgetting to update!  Colt has been laughing so much lately.  He is such a happy baby.  He has been noticing the camera too and just stares at it when I bring it out, so I have only caught it on camera once, but I can't get it on here yet!  UGH- if only I was better with technology.
He loves to see daddy and mommy in the morning- he just smiles and smiles at us- so we just lay in bed and smile at each other for at least 30 minutes every morning.  That time with him each morning is my most treasured memory of us together.
He also got his first set of shots last week.  I was so nervous!  When we got back to the room I went to get his pacifier (it worked really well as a distraction in the NICU- and OBVIOUSLY I love distraction!).  As I reached for the pacifier- the nurse proceeded to tell me it wouldn't work anyway so I might as well just forget it!  I wanted to punch her in the face.  So I got it out anyway- because I am stubborn and I knew better.  She then gave me about 15 instructions- none of which helped the situation- and then made me hold him still while she gave him the shot.  He screamed and cried for about 15 minutes, but then he did so well.  He never got a fever and never cried from pain.  I was such a proud mommy!
He is starting to get more and more interested in toys that are around him.  He is becoming more and more aware of his surroundings.  He isn't eating as fast anymore because he is so interested in looking around.  We work on tummy time everyday (several times a day) but he hasn't rolled over yet, but with a little help, he can do it.
Well- that is all for now.  We are going to try to put him in his crib tonight- so say a little prayer that he likes it!  I really don't want to start all over with his sleep schedule (right now he sleeps 8 hours at a time every night and then goes back down for another 3 hours!)

New Car

Well, in all the madness of me getting my wisdom teeth pulled, we bought a new car!  Justin sold his Tahoe on Christmas Eve, so we needed to find something new.  We searched all over and drove a few cars, and ended up with a 2009 Malibu.  We love it!  It is like a grown up version of my beloved Scion tC :)  However, the best part was, we had to take my dad with us, because I was too drugged up to drive.  Thanks Dad!

2 month check up

Colt has his 2 month check up this week.  Some how we got off by a few weeks- but oh well.  He was supposed to get shots, but since we changed insurance, we are getting them at the health department.  Anyway- here are his stats...
Head circumference: 15.5" ....34th%
Weight:10 lbs 12.5 oz ....29th%
Height: 23in....55th%
So Justin was a little disappointed with the height and weight.  He came home and started calling Colt "29" (for his weight percentile).  He continued to say (joking of corse)... "I have been trying so hard not to think he is going to be short like you... but what if he's short like you?!?!"  Oh Justin :)  You are special.

Colt has been sitting in his BUMBO from Aunt Jodi.  It's hard work for him, but he likes it- most of the time.  He has also been smiling and laughing a ton, but now he notices the camera, so as soon as I pull it out, all he does is stare at it and stop smiling!  UGH- he may be stubborn just like his parents

hot mess

Since I decided to stay home with Colt, I needed to get in to the dentist before we changed insurance.  I got all finished and met the dentist...then he proceeded to tell me that the cap I had placed before never really fit- so I needed a new one... I had a cavity... I was grinding my teeth in my sleep- from stress (not so sure about that one) and needed a night time bite block... AND I needed my wisdom teeth taken out.  Again- since we were changing insurance at the end of the year- they got me in the day beore New Year's Eve.  So- I spent the new year with a very sore mouth.  Within a few days, I had a horrible tooth ache (or so I thought), but when I called they said to wait for a week to see if it would go away!  Meanwhile, Justin got the flu!  So we were useless.  Then- lo and behold- I go the flu!  We were falling apart.  At this point, I hadn't eaten in 6 days... and we were all getting more and more miserable.  Turns out, I had dry sockets and I didn't know it! UGH.  So... finally at 8 days, I managed to eat macaroni- success!  Justin and I got over the flu and we managed to go to Josh's basketball games.  Hallelujah!

Merry Christmas

Well, it's a little late, but that seems to the a theme with us.  Merry Christmas!  We loved every minute of celebrating Colt's first Christmas.  We really wanted to start some traditions of our own, so we went to Christmas Eve service at E91 and then started all the Christmas celebrations.  We had 9 total- so there was a lot of celebrating.  On Christmas morning, we work up and did our little Christmas here, then went to Justin's parents, my dad's and then my mom's.  We loved seeing everyone, but we are hoping to spend next year at our house watching Colt open his presents.  While we loved going around and getting to see everyone, we were constantly reminded of the reason we celebreate Christmas.  Justin and I both sat in Christmas Eve service and cried just thinking about how blessed we are to have our family and faith.  We felt so renewed and ready to head in to the new year with Jesus as the center of our family.  Although, Colt challenges our pure thoughts with his screaming in the middle of the night!  I will post some pictures of our first family Christmas.  Enjoy!
