Oh Canada

We took our first family vacation to my family's island in Canada last week.  We drove through the night so Colt would sleep the whole way.  Luckily, I got to sleep the whole way too!  We got there on Sunday afternoon and it was beautiful.
I was very nervous about how Colt would do in a small cabin with lots of new things.  He is so active and into everything and the cabin is about as big as our living room.  He had lots of trouble sleeping- he didn't want to miss a thing.  Instead of sleeping 6 hours during the day, he slept 1 and a half!  He also gained some new skills.  He can officially stand up on anything, and he also learned how to drink out of a cup.
Colt was not a fan of his life jacket, but he loved riding in the boat!  It is a 45 minute boat ride back to the island, and he did wonderful.  He also got to touch a fish.  He wasn't scared at all.
Justin and I were able to learn more about how to operate the island.  My grandparents are getting to the point that it is difficult for them to go up there and do all the work, so we are trying to learn how to do it for ourselves.  In addition to learning all that, Justin got to go fishing almost every day, we got to take several boat rides and enjoy the amazing weather.  It only rained once for just a few hours.
Lots of pictures....

Teeth, Finger Foods and Moving

July 4th weekend I noticed a little white dot in Colt's mouth... a tooth!  His bottom left tooth is coming in.  He is such a big boy now.  I cannot believe how quickly time is going by.  He also started eating puffs this week.  I used to try to feed them to him, but he would choke on them.  But this week he started eating them and started feeding them to himself.  He also is doing great eating bananas.  And he is on the move!!  He is pulling up on everything and then moving along the items.  He stands himself up on the couch, the wall, chairs... you name it, he tries to climb it.  He also has discovered the stairs.  He made it up to the second stair before I could get to him!  He is incredibly good at lifting up his legs to walk up the stairs too.  AHH!!  Our life is changing by the day.  But, I absolutely love it!  I could not ask for a more crazy, amazing boy.

Father's Day.... just a little late

Happy 1st Father's Day to Justin!  We decided to try to spend some time with just our little family for his first Father's Day.  I told him he could have what he wanted on Saturday night- and he chose going to Hoosier Park with some of our friends!  HA!  So Colt spent some time with his grandparents.  Sunday morning Justin laid in bed extra long with Colt and then we went to church.  After church we picked up Grandma Wooden and headed to my dad's house for a cookout.  Justin's Father's Day present arrived a few days late, but he loved it just the same.  I got a great deal on a canvas of one of our family photos.  All in all, it was a great Father's Day!  I am so thankful to have a husband who loves his son.  Colt just lights up when he sees Justin and he loves it when Justin tickles him.  Colt is also starting to look a lot more like Justin.  I guess only time will tell if he acts like him too!  I am also so appreciative of my dad.  I am blessed to have a dad who loves me, let me fall when I needed to learn and was there to pick me up when I needed it.  Happy Father's Day!
