Randoms

Colt has been keeping us very busy.  He wants to explore everything!  He absolutely loves to hold on to my hands and walk all around the house.  And now that he can pull himself up, he crawls over to my legs, pulls up and waits there until I hold his hands so we can walk around.  He definitely knows what is his and what isn't... which means, he only wants what he isn't supposed to have- outlets, wires, dog toys, etc.  And he is ALL boy.  He hates to be held and only wants to face out so he can see everything.
He also talks all the time- which Justin says he gets from me :)  Colt is starting to look a lot more like Justin- and act like him too.  I think we will have our hands full for quite some time.  Justin's mom always said, if she had Justin first, she wouldn't have had any more kids!  I can't wait to see what is in store for us in the years to come.  Enjoy some new pics...

Visit From Texas

Justin's Aunt, Uncle and cousins come from Texas every year to visit.  This year they came for his grandma's 90th birthday!  This was the first time they got to see Colt too.  When they come, it is a whirlwind of activities every day and night until they go home.  And Justin's family is crazy, so it makes for an interesting week! Haha  Not to mention, I am pretty sure we all gain 5 pounds every time they come too.  There are lots of pictures, so enjoy!

First Night Away and Amy's Wedding

My VERY good friend Amy got married last weekend.  Renee, Jodi and I went up early Friday morning to help get ready and spend some time with the bride.  Justin had to come up that night for the rehearsal dinner, thus, Colt stayed away from both of us for the first time!  It was really difficult to let him spend the night somewhere else, but we really wanted to be there to celebrate with Amy and Steven.   I had so much fun with the girls- spending the night like it was college all over again.  We did have a minor setback when we went to get cold medicine for Amy at Wal-Mart and came out to discover that Renee's car had been hit.  So, we spent some time with the police- just the way every bride should spend the night before her wedding!  The good news is, Renee handled it so well and we still had a ton of fun.
The wedding was beautiful and we had a blast.  Justin said it was one of the best receptions he had ever been to.  People were literally dancing from the second they opened the dance floor until the place shut down.  Even Steven's grandma did the cupid shuffle!  I'll post some pics of the fab four and some from the reception.  We had so much fun hanging out with our friends.  And Colt started crawling the next day and saying Mama!  So it was an amazing weekend!!

Beginning of Summer

We took a trip up north to the lakes for Memorial Day weekend.  Mom and Kim have been remodeling the lake house and we wanted to help move in/enjoy the weather.  Colt got to wear his life vest for the first time.  It was a little big on him, but he was a trooper.  Casey and Sarah let us borrow a hat- thank goodness or he would never have survived the boat ride.  Colt also got to hang out with his cousins.  It was pretty adorable.  And, on Sunday Justin got to go to the Indy 500 with Josh.  They were excited to have some quality time with each other.  The bad news is Justin hit a deer on the way there with my car.  But, it was still a great weekend.

CRAWLING

Well, Colt is officially crawling!  He has been army crawling for a few weeks- but today it was the real thing.  He thinks he is so funny when he does it too.  He just laughed while crawling toward his toy as I chased him.  I promise to get the video posted soon.  Life will never be the same.

Visit from Uncle Keaton

Keaton came to visit last week.  He was in town because his documentary about the Indiana School for the Deaf was being premiered at the school.  They had invited him down to speak about the documentary and even hired an interpreter so he could talk to the kids.  Colt and I went to watch and support him.  I sat there and cried as they showed the movie in front of all these kids.  The movie was absolutely amazing!  I also have such a soft spot for sign language and the deaf community.  I promise to try to get the link so anyone can watch the movie.  It is awesome- I mean- it was nominated for an Emmy!  We are so proud of you Keaton and it was SO good to spend time with you.  I love you and miss you!
Colt is not ready for this picture!

Big Boy

Colt turned 7 months last week and all the sudden he is a new kid.  He is much more opinionated, more feisty and (on the good side) more interactive.  His teeth are really close to coming in, so that has definitely changed things.  He also became very clingy to me all the sudden.  He cries when I leave to go running, or put him down on the floor.  If I am in the room and someone else is holding him, he is not happy.
He also is much more awnry.  He really wants to play with Winston's toys.  He army crawls as fast as he can to them and tries to put them in his mouth.  I was warming up his bottle the other day and noticed I couldn't see him anymore.  When I came around the corner, he had Winston's bone in his mouth!   Justin stayed home with him the other day and could not help but laugh at how rotten he has become.  He would crawl to Winston's toys and Justin would have to turn him around the other way.  As soon as Justin would walk away, Colt would crawl back to Winston's toys as fast as he could.  And when he was about a foot away from them, he would turn around and see if Justin was watching!
We also had another check up with the doctor this week.  She was pleased with his growth and thought he was really making up a lot of ground developmentally.  Here are the stats:
Weight: 15 lbs 14 ounces  9%tile
Height:  27.8 inches  75%tile
A few other tidbits of information.  Colt loves carrots and green beans.  He loves to pull Winston's hair- and thank goodness Winston is a good boy and he just lets him do it!  He sits up by himself and has sat in a high chair a few times when we are out to eat.  He loves his daddy and thinks he is so funny.  Sophie the giraffe is still his favorite toy.  He LOVES to hold on to my fingers and walk everywhere.
